Amy Poehler loves ‘to be of service’

Amy Poehler is honoured to have the opportunity to be charitable.

The 41-year-old comedienne split from her husband of nine years Will Arnett in September. The former couple share two children together, sons Archie, four, and Abel, two.

Amy serves as Ambassador of the Arts for philanthropic organisation Worldwide Orphans.

Amy finds doing her part to provide schooling, health care, and recreational programmes to orphans and children worldwide extremely satisfying.

“Giving back is the ultimate way to get out of yourself and to be of service,” she told the US edition of OK! magazine.

“The WWO provides much-needed services for children who need it the most.”

Amy thinks its imperative that her boys learn the benefits of being of service to others in need.

She imparts the necessity of compassion to Archie and Abel through the actions she takes as Ambassador for the Arts.

“It means service, having an open heart and paying attention to the rest of the world,” she said.

“I try to be a power of example and raise them as kind and conscious people.”
