Sheridan denied appeal in Housewives case

Nicollette Sheridan has been denied an appeal in her case against her former employers on Desperate Housewives.

The actress in 2010 filed a $20 million wrongful termination suit against US television network ABC, Touchstone Television and the creator of the hit series, Marc Cherry.

Nicollette claimed Marc slapped her during a confrontation on the Wisteria Lane set and that she was fired from her role as Edie Britt when she complained about the alleged incident.

Marc has been cleared of assaulting the actress. She is now seeking damages from ABC and Touchstone for being let go from the show.

In March, a mistrial was declared after a jury was unable to reach a verdict. Her request for a rehearing was rejected.

This led to an appeal to the California Supreme Court, which issued the ruling on Friday.

“The petition for review is denied. The request for an order requesting depublication of the opinion is denied,” the court’s chief justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye told The Hollywood Reporter.

Nicollette must prove her departure from the series violated California’s labour code to continue the fight.

Neither ABC nor Nicollette have commented on the latest ruling.
