(Cover) - EN Movies - Twilight has soared to the top of the US box office.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 sank its teeth into the competition with a $141.3 million haul following its midnight Friday domestic opening.

The haul brings the film's international gross total to $340.9 million in its first week.

The final installment of the vampire saga, starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as vampires Edward and Bella Cullen, now falls eighth on the list of all-time top US debuts.

New Moon ranks number seven on the list with $142.8 million while 2011's Breaking Dawn - Part 1 ranks ninth with $138.1 million. The Avengers ranks number one with $207.4 million.

Part 2 still managed to push James Bond from the top spot in the US rankings.

The latest spy film, starring Daniel Craig in his third turn as 007, grossed $41.5 million this week. The figure takes its domestic total to $161 million and its worldwide total to $669.2 million in its second week. Skyfall cost $200 million to make.

Lincoln follows at third, with Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th President of the Unites States helping to rake in $21 million.

Animated comedy Wreck-It Ralph trails at fourth with $18.2 million.

Denzel Washington's Flight rounds out the top five with $8.6 million for a three-week total of over $61.3 million.
