Ryan Phillippe: I won't push kids to act

Ryan Phillippe isn’t sure he wants his children to follow in his actor footsteps.
The 38-year-old has enjoyed a successful career in the industry and is father to Ava and Deacon from his marriage to Reese Witherspoon, and daughter Kailani from his relationship with model Alexis Knapp.
Despite his lucrative career in the limelight, Ryan isn’t sure he’d like his three little ones to go down the same path.
"I don't encourage it; I wouldn't necessarily discourage it," he told Entertainment Tonight.
"I think there have been times in my life where I think I'd like them to do something that maybe matters a little more... but I think this can too in some ways. I feel like [their] personalities are maybe not so performer-inclined. Maybe they'll find something [in entertainment]. Maybe they'll be a director, but they're still taking shape."
Ryan has also been thinking about his career lately, and has taken a step in a slightly different direction.
He makes his directorial debut in Shreveport, which he also wrote and stars in.
"I do love the idea of being writer-director," he gushed.
"What I love is...[that] this structure that we got to build where my character's held captive is completely by my own design and is exactly what we were writing the script to, so that's an incredibly rewarding thing...These characters, the way they speak, this setting [are] really all out of the imagination of myself and my co-writer."
