Michael Douglas is reportedly the reason Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman are talking again.
Danny and Rhea announced they had split after a 30-year marriage in October, but last week the actor insisted they are working on things.
Danny and Michael have been close friends since 1966, appearing in movies together and even sharing a home at one point.
It was reportedly Michael who convinced Danny, 68, he should try to mend his marriage.
“When Michael found out Danny and Rhea were splitting up he told Danny he thought he was making a big mistake,” an insider told Radar Online.
“Michael loves Rhea and he told Danny he will never find another woman quite like her. They complement each other perfectly and are the best of friends.
“He said he should do whatever it takes to win Rhea back and come to his senses fast before it is too late. It’s because of Michael they are talking to each other.”
Danny and Rhea are said to be focusing on building their friendship at the moment. They are getting along well and last week the actor explained they are “still together, just separate, but together”.
Michael has been happily married to Catherine Zeta-Jones – who Danny introduced him to – for 12 years. He has apparently been imparting words of wisdom on how to make a union last, and is convinced Danny and Rhea will overcome their issues.
The estranged couple have three children together and it has been claimed Rhea called time on their marriage after growing tired of Danny’s flirty behaviour with other women.
