Poehler: Moon wives will be next marriage trend

Amy Poehler can imagine a future in which she is married to a man on the moon.

The 41-year-old American comedienne shares two children with her estranged husband Will Arnett. The pair separated last year after being wed for nearly a decade.

Amy has a unique perspective on modern families and anticipates that the concept will further evolve in the future.

“I think the next thing is moon wives,” she joked to Entertainment Weekly.

“Like having a wife here on earth and then a wife on the moon. And everybody’s cool with it. They’re like, ‘You’re my Earth wife, but my moon wife and I are also in love.’

“You just get in a rocket ship and say, ‘I love you. I’ll see you in like two weeks, but I have to go to my other wife on the moon.’ ”

Amy thinks galactic family court could get tricky.

She suspects that space people will ultimately band together.

“Moon Divorce,” Amy said.

“And let me tell you something. Those judges always side with the people on the moon. It’s so unfair.”

Amy and Will tied the knot in 2003 and the former couple split in September 2009.
