Rose Byrne: Flirting is fun

Rose Byrne would be flattered if a guy said she was “hot”.

The Bridesmaids actress has been speaking about what she finds attractive in a man. Rose usually falls for guys who can make her laugh, and she is always pleased when people compliment her looks.

“A sense of humour, for sure. I’m pretty down to earth. But I would be flattered that anyone thinks I’m hot,” she told the latest issue of Esquire magazine.

The 33-year-old Australian star is best known for playing uptight Helen Harris in smash hit comedy Bridesmaids. Rose is currently promoting new romcom I Give It a Year, in which she portrays another neurotic woman. She insists that in real life she is nothing like the characters she plays on the big screen.

“It’s a funny thing – they’re both really highly strung women with lists of what they want, what’s right and what’s required of them. Helen [Bridesmaids] is a lot more passive/aggressive, whereas Nat [I Give It a Year] is… aggressive,” Rose laughed. “I’m more relaxed in my nature. I’ve never had a list. I keep things sweet, follow what I feel rather than run my life, you know.”

Despite appearing in a series of hit movies, Rose is relieved that she can still enjoy a private life. The star – who was recently romantically linked to Boardwalk Empire actor Bobby Cannavale – prefers to keep a low profile when she isn’t working.

“If people recognise me, it’s from that [Bridesmaids]. But I’m a pretty anonymous person,” she explained. “I live in New York, so I don’t get recognised much. I look quite different in real life from my character. They always wear a dress, get a manicure. I’m in sports shoes and jeans every day.”
