Josh Brolin has stepped out smiling a day after announcing his split from Diane Lane.

The couple were married for eight years before they confirmed plans to divorce on Thursday.

The 45-year-old actor looked remarkably upbeat as he left his home in Los Angeles on Friday.

The Gangster Squad star appeared to be accompanied by a mystery woman as he smiled in a photo obtained by UsWeekly.

The tabloid confirmed Josh’s divorce just yesterday.

"It was a mutual decision,” a representative for the couple was quoted telling the publication.

His outing comes on the heels of reports Diane was the one to throw in the towel on their relationship.

The 48-year-old actress cited “irreconcilable differences” in Los Angeles County Superior Court documents filed on February 15, according to TMZ.

The Associated Press reports the filings were signed by Diane on Valentine’s Day.

The legal date of separation is listed as February 13.

Us Weekly claims the former couple had been unofficially separated for two months.

That would land around the time of Josh’s New Year’s Eve arrest in Santa Monica, California for public intoxication.
He was released from jail on January 1 after paying a $250 fine.

Despite the split the actor had nothing but praise for his wife when he spoke to reporters at a premiere for his new movie Gangster Squad last month.

"She's a very strong woman, extremely strong," he said, adding of their low-key romance, “We just do our own thing, and we always have."

Diane and Josh married in August 2004. He was arrested four months later for spousal battery but the charges were later dropped.

Diane and Josh do not share any children.

It will be the second divorce for both stars, who were married to their former respective partners Christopher Lambert and Alice Adair from 1988 to 1994.

Diane has a 19-year-old daughter from her relationship with Christopher.

Josh has two children, 18 and 24, from his marriage to Alice.
