Barbra Streisand: I've never been drunk

Barbra Streisand has joked she’s a “control freak”, which is why she’s never been drunk.

The American star appears alongside Seth Rogen in The Guilt Trip, about a mother and son who embark on a road trip together.

In one scene Barbra’s character Joyce gets over-excited after consuming too much alcohol, something the star has no experience of.

“I’ve never been drunk. I’m a control freak, yeah,” she laughed to UK TV show Daybreak. “I don’t like the taste of liquor.”

Seth quickly deadpanned: “I’m the exact same way,” prompting Barbra to giggle: “Oh you’re totally the opposite!”

Seth opened up about having the iconic star portray his big screen mother. It was a brilliant experience for the 30-year-old actor, although he admits worrying about the release when shooting began.

“It’s quite a big deal for a young man [to have Barbra as your mom]. There’s always pressure when you make a movie, lots of people see if and it would be embarrassing if it sucks and I obviously don’t want to antagonise someone who is very well respected, but we got along very well. It was super easy, it was fun,” he explained.

Barbra’s smooth skin and blonde hair make her look much younger than she is. The star will turn 71 next month and Seth for one is keen to learn her secret.

“I look older than she does, I think. I’ve been looking at some of these interviews… and I look 15 years older than Barbra,” he mused.

As Barbra has been in the industry for so long she is used to reading rumours about herself. Seth wants people to know any allegations of diva behaviour are completely unfounded.

“Not that I had any misconceptions but if there was any they were instantly shattered by the fact that she was super normal and easy and just like a regular person,” he explained.
