(Cover) - EN Movies - Michael Keaton will join Emma Stone and Naomi Watts to star in director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's dark comedy Birdman.

Zach Galifianakis will also join the ensemble in the film made by Fox Searchlight and New Regency.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael will play a “former actor who once played an iconic superhero.”

The character “mounts a Broadway play based on a Raymond Carver short story” in a bid to regain his credibility.

However, the play’s egotistical leading man threatens to ruin everything.

Michael famously depicted Batman in the 1989 and 1992 Tim Burton films.

Emma Stone will portray the actor’s daughter who is “fresh from rehab and now his assistant” while Naomi will star as an actress in the play.

Hangover actor Zach persona is the production's “conniving producer.”

Babel director Alexander co-wrote the script with Nicolas Giacobone and the film is being slated for a production start in April.

Michael recently starred in the Robocop remake, while Emma is currently filming The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
