Keira Knightley doesn't have the "sort of brain" that likes music.

The 29-year-old actress is married to The Klaxons star James Righton, but even her husband's job can't get her interested in tunes. That was one of the reasons why she decided to play an up-and-coming singer/songwriter in Begin Again - Keira wanted to try to understand how music can affect people.

"I don't know anything about music at all. I never really listen to it. If it's on in a room, I can't really hear it. I don't have that sort of brain," she told British magazine Hello! "And that's another reason I was so interested in doing this film. I'm married to a musician, my best friends are completely obsessed with music, my brother was in bands - it completely surrounds me, but I really have to concentrate to pick it up. If I'm really drunk, then I'll dance, but I won't know what I'm listening to."

Partly because of this it was James who selected the first track played at the couple's wedding reception last year. Keira can remember what it was, but admits it didn't hold much special meaning for her.

"Our first dance was [Paul McCartney's] Ram On, but it wasn't my choice. It was his because I wouldn't have known how to choose anything," she said.

Despite her comments, one of James' bandmates has insisted Keira is helpful when the band are writing new tunes. Jamie Reynolds recently claimed the dance group always know they are on to a winner if Keira can't help throwing some shapes to one of their songs when she hears it.

"It's more on a dance level, you know what I mean' She contributes via dance," Jamie told British newspaper The Guardian.
"Erm... just moves... as you'd imagine. [Laughs]. Oh God, you've stitched me up, I shouldn't be talking about Keira!"
