Johnny Depp is reportedly obsessed with Groupon.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor is worth a reported £200 million and even owns an island in the Bahamas. But the 51-year-old is allegedly so hooked on the bargain website’s daily deals that he checks it every 24 hours.

"Johnny can't resist a bargain, and he loves it when Groupon's deal of the day arrives in his email inbox," a friend of the star told British magazine Heat. "If he can get a good price for something he'll go for it. He just bought a new barbecue for the patio of his house in LA."

His obsession doesn't just stop at purchases for himself. He reportedly bought his fiancée Amber Heard a pair of £600 earrings on offer for £200. Meal vouchers are also something that the Transcendence star makes a point of purchasing.

"Once, he got so excited at the prospect of a deal, he used it in a restaurant to get 40 per cent off his bill," the source continued. "He just couldn't resist when he saw it on his phone. But he felt bad about it afterwards and left a $200 tip."

Whether Johnny's thrifty behaviour is behind his and Amber's reported plans for a small wedding are unconfirmed. But whatever the reason, their nuptials will not be an extravagant affair.

"They had an engagement party for their friends in March that they viewed as the big hoopla," an insider told Us Weekly magazine earlier this month. "So the wedding will be small."
