Raindance celebrates 50 years of Super 8 with Don Letts

Raindance Film Festival, Europe’s largest independent film festival, is marking 50 years of Super 8mm with special evening with DJ, musician and filmmaker, Don Letts.

“The Don” will be previewing his latest project - 'Two 77's Clash', which looks at the myth and the reality of the 'punky-reggae party' on Saturday 3rd October at VUE Piccadilly at 6:30pm.

Don will also be dipping into his extensive Super 8mm archive to give a taste of what's to come from what he describes as "a black n' white story told in glorious colour,” and there will be a live Q&A hosted by Zoe Howe.

The screening event will be followed by a Super 8 punk party at The Social from 7:30pm with a very special DJ set from Don Letts, Douglas Hart and Andy Fraser, and live music from Telegram.

Experimental filmmaker and light show artist Julian Hand will be screening super 8 punk projections throughout the night, including some of his own work and footage from Don Letts' The Punk Rock Movie and Captain Zip aka John the Super 8 Punk.

In a further nod to Super 8mm’s 50th anniversary, the Raindance Film Festival trailer was also shot entirely on the film format this year, directed by Jesus and the Mary Chain’s Douglas Hart, also an accomplished music video director.

Tickets to the event are £12 (£9 concessions).
