Kris Jenner has had a "difficult" time adjusting to the fact her ex-husband Bruce is now a woman called Caitlyn.

The former Olympian came out as a trans woman in April 2015, revealing her new moniker two months later. His transition into Caitlyn has been difficult for Kris, who has two daughters Kendall and Kylie with her former spouse.

"I just have to let it go. And try to be tolerant," Kris told Harper's Bazaar magazine. "(With) prayer. God. You know, just trying to understand. It takes time. But time is a wonderful healer. And we have two children together. It's important for my kids to see our family strong and united."

Since her transition, Caitlyn has become an advocate for transgender rights. However, Kris admits she was largely unaware of the subject until last year.

"I never really thought about it before. And I'd never known anyone who was transgender," she admitted. "I didn't even know what the word meant. Because there's transgender and transsexual - I just didn't know much about it. So I definitely got a big education."

Kris has become a household name thanks to her role on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. She appears on the show alongside her six children, as well as her son-in-law Kanye West who features occasionally on the programme.

Kim, Kanye and their children North and Saint are living with Kris while their new house is being renovated, but the momager doesn't mind as she's a huge fan of Kanye's.

"I couldn't be prouder. One thing people don't realise about him is, not only is he so beyond talented, but he's also a genius," Kris explained. "And when he's here, he’s so present. He’s the best daddy, and the best husband. Kim is so lucky to have him."

Kris' interview features in the March issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine, due to hit shelves on 16 February (16).
