Kate Winslet won't be putting a bet on herself to win at this year's BAFTA Awards.
The 40-year-old actress is up for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Steve Jobs but has some tough competition in the form of Jennifer Jason Leigh for The Hateful Eight, Rooney Mara for Carol, Alicia Vikander for Ex Machina and Julie Walters for Brooklyn.
The awards are set to take place on Sunday night (14Feb16) and Kate insists she has no idea who is going to emerge victorious in her category.
"I don't know if i'm necessarily hopeful but I do just feel determined at this point," Kate said during an interview on Good Morning Britain on Friday (12Feb16). "It's been an amazing year, it's been a great year for women in film, but this particular category of Best Supporting Actress it has been really quite up in the air. People have been floating in and out of this category, I won the Golden Globe but at the same time, there's no shoe in. It's anyone's guess. I wouldn't want to be putting a bet on who's going to win because who knows, I'm not going to be going down the bookies that's for sure."
Kate was on the show to discuss her role in Triple 9, in which she plays crime boss Irina Vlaslov. The role is a drastic departure from what Kate has become known for, but she relished the chance to flex a different set of acting skills.
"I'm very horrible, extremely evil through and through," she laughed. "It was really fun for me to play that. It was a heck of a lot of fun playing someone so extremely different from myself."
The mother-of-three started shooting Triple 9 just six months after welcoming son Bear, her first child with husband Ned Rocknroll, into the world. Starring as Irina meant she was thrown back into real life after her maternity leave - something Kate was thrilled about.
"I wanted to be part of this film because I knew it would throw me back into reality, get me out of the maternity wear and get me into some sassy costumes - it was a short sharp jolt of reality for sure," she added.
