Jessica Chastain is considering taking on a leading role in Jake Gyllenhaal's new The Division adaptation.

Jake, 35, is producing the film version of Ubisoft’s hit video game with the company's Gerard Guillemot. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, Jessica, who showed off her tough girl skills in The Huntsman: Winter's War, is in negotiations to join him in front of the camera.

The plot will be set during a viral pandemic in a dystopian New York City. It is thought Jake's character will lead the Strategic Homeland Division, aka The Division, in creating a task force to seek out the origins of the outbreak. Ubisoft is putting the project together before hitting up the studios, a process which has been successful for the company, which also set up the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed starring Michael Fassbender as well as the movie version of Splinter Cell with Tom Hardy.

The video game earned more than $330 million in its first week of sales earlier this year (16), and it was available on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows platforms.

Twice Oscar-nominated Jessica has multiple upcoming film projects on her slate; she has a leading role in World War II drama The Zookeeper’s Wife and will tackle the lead in Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of Hollywood gambling drama Molly’s Game with Idris Elba. And for her latest role, the 39-year-old will star in the John Madden-directed Miss Sloane, which is set to be released in December (16). In the film, she takes on the role of political strategist Elizabeth Sloane, who chooses to go up against some of America’s most powerful gun lobbyists.
