Actress Sarah Hyland is freaked out by the idea of online dating because it's tough to tell if potential suitors are dangerous.
The Modern Family star, 25, admits she prefers the old-fashioned approach to romance as opposed to making a cyber connection on dating sites.
"I think there's something special in forming a relationship with just talking," she tells Entertainment Tonight. "I think communication is really beautiful. It's the key to any relationship."
The actress is happily dating her Vampire Academy co-star Dominic Sherwood, but if she was single, she insists there's no chance fans would find her looking for love online.
"Stranger Dangers are online!" she exclaimed. "You just don't know. Catfish (people who lie about their lives online) can happen anytime... It freaks me out. I just like talking one-on-one."
Sarah's stance on online dating couldn't be more different from that of her character in new Netflix movie XOXO.
"My character, Krystal, goes through a lot," she explains. "She's really naive and very young, and believes in true love. She's just looking for that thing that she's always wanted, so she meets a guy online and they have plans to meet up at this music festival, XOXO, and things don't go as planned for her."
The star has plenty of experience with troubled relationships - she split from actor Matthew Prokop in 2014 and subsequently obtained a restraining order against her ex, amid allegations he had terrorised her during their relationship.
She has since moved on from the drama and became linked to Sherwood in January, 2015.
