Tracee Ellis Ross ignites scream-fest for Emmy nomination

Actress Tracee Ellis Ross has pushed her vocal cords to the limits after shrieking uncontrollably following news of her Emmy nod.

The 43-year-old star received a nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category for her work in Black-ish at this year's (16) upcoming 68th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony.

And when Tracee first heard she was in the running for a trophy at the prizegiving, she exploded with unbridled enthusiasm.

"I ran around my dining room table, opened my front door and walked into the front courtyard and then said out loud, 'Where am I going? Where am I going? You need to call someone!' " she recalls to People.com, noting the first person she thought to contact was her R&B legend mum Diana Ross.

"She was thrilled," Tracee says of her mother. "We screamed for a little bit together. It's just – honestly it's a very exciting moment."

Diana took her excitement to the next level by congratulating her daughter in an ad she bought in The Hollywood Reporter trade magazine.

But to Tracee's surprise and delight, family members aren't the only people who are hugely supportive of her Emmy Award nod.

"I'll be at the grocery store and people will be like, 'Hey! Congratulations on that Emmy nomination,' " she gushes. "I have not yet gotten married in my life. I haven't had a child, so this is the largest, most celebratory thing that has happened to me in my life ... You see the smile on my face? So, it's really fun."

The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on 18 September (16).
