Arnold Schwarzenegger is blasting Donald Trump for his response to the white supremacist and neo-Nazi rally in Virginia, insisting it's the U.S. President's job to condemn the bigotry.

The Republican leader has come under fire for failing to call out the hate groups after a march in Charlottesville over the removal of a Confederate soldier statue turned violent last weekend (12Aug17). He stirred controversy again this week (begs14Aug17) by insisting there was blame on "both sides" for the civil unrest, which led to three fatalities.

The lack of condemnation has prompted Arnold to take aim at Trump once more in a new video message.

"As president of this great country, you have a moral responsibility to send an unequivocal message that you won't stand for hate and racism," the actor says in the footage.

Arnold continues: "There are not two sides to bigotry, and there are not two sides to hatred. And if you choose to march with a (Confederate) flag that symbolises the slaughter of millions of people, there are not two sides to that. The only way to beat the loud, angry voices of hate is to meet them with louder, more reasonable voices - that includes you, President Trump."

The former California governor also hit out at the white supremacy supporters, recalling his time growing up in Austria after the Nazis were defeated in World War II.

Addressing them directly, he adds, "Let me be as blunt as possible: Your heroes are losers. You are supporting a lost cause. Believe me, I knew the original Nazis. I was born in Austria in 1947, shortly after the Second World War. Growing up, I was surrounded by broken men, men who came home from the war filled with shrapnel and guilt, men who were misled into a losing ideology. And I can tell you: these ghosts that you idolise spent the rest of their lives living in shame, and right now, they're resting in hell."

Schwarzenegger's stern message comes a few days after he donated $100,000 (£77,700) to Jewish human rights organisation the Simon Wiesenthal Center to help fight bigotry.

This isn't the first time Arnold has blasted Trump - he previously also criticised the real estate mogul and TV star-turned-politician over policies pertaining to climate change and immigration.
