Captain America Chris Evans refuses to believe he's anything special, even though a swooning army of fans would disagree.
The movie hunk insists he's still scarred from the way he looked as an awkward teenager - and will never look in the mirror and think he's all that.
"I still feel like I'm just trying to pull a fast one over on people," he told BuzzFeed's Thirst Aid Kit podcast. "You don't know what I look like first thing in the morning! It's rough!
"If you look back on some of my photos from childhood, it was not kind. I had a really bumpy road, and I think, like most of us, we still feel like that - no matter what."
The actor also admits he doesn't look back on his childhood with fondness when it come to fitting in and looking good.
"We kind of connect to that chapter in life when you first start exploring the feelings of comparison," he added. "It's usually connected to when you start noticing the people you're attracted to, somewhere around nine, 10, 11 - when you first start coming into your own sexuality and start seeing how you stack up. That was probably one of the roughest chapters of my life!"
His latest chapter, however, looks much more promising - he appears to be back with his Gifted co-star Jenny Slate after the couple broke up about a year ago.
In November (17), Jenny was spotted apartment hunting with Chris in New York City, ahead of his first appearance in a Broadway play, Lobby Hero, which opens in March.
Then Chris' brother Scott posted a photo on Instagram of himself with Jenny on Christmas Day, suggesting the Secret Life of Pets star was spending the special holiday with the Evans family.
Scott wrote beside the shot: "Christmas with my favorite Jew! @jennyslate."
