Alicia Vikander's best friends threw her a surprise bachelorette party prior to her wedding.

The Swedish star wed actor Michael Fassbender in a ceremony held in Ibiza, Spain last October (17), with only close pals and family members in attendance.

While Alicia wasn't planning on having a party prior to the nuptials, she has now shared in an interview with Marie Claire magazine that her best girlfriends had other ideas.

"I was there (in Paris) for the Louis Vuitton show and suddenly got a text that says, 'Go out. We need you right now,'" laughed Alicia, adding jokingly: "They kidnapped me for 24 hours!"

The actress remained tight-lipped about any other details of her bachelorette party or wedding celebration but did admit that she's very happy with X-Men star Michael and stated, "I'm a big romantic, and I always have been."

And the 29-year-old also explained that she is looking forward to marking her milestone birthday later in the year, as she has thought about it ever since she was 12 years old.

"I realised I'd be 30, and in my head, 30 was the year you became an adult, so I remember thinking, 'Hopefully I'm going to have something good by then, but I'm also going to be old,'" the star recalled of contemplating what the year 2018 would have in store for her when she was a girl. "The nice thing is, life has only gone better than I'd imagined."

In addition, Alicia also discussed her role in new movie Tomb Raider in which she portrays a younger version of Lara Croft. Though she wanted the film to appeal to a wide audience, she was constantly looking to appeal to young girls with her characterisation.

"I wanted to show young girls that it's cool to be a girl who's really strong and that watching her, you feel like, 'O.K., she might be able to climb that wall. She might be able to lift her own weight,'" she added.
