Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have reportedly been advised their divorce case may be dismissed if they don't take "appropriate steps".
The actors announced they were divorcing after ten years of marriage in June 2015, and they filed legal documents in April 2017. Although they have both moved on, with the Batman actor dating TV producer Lindsay Shookus, the pair has reportedly been "dragging their feet" over their divorce proceedings.
Authorities with the Los Angeles Superior Court have reportedly advised them that their case has not been completed because the final judgement has not been filed and entered, and the case could be dismissed if they don't take action, according to a document obtained by The Blast.
Officials reportedly told them, "If you fail to take the appropriate steps in your case, the court may dismiss your case for delay in prosecution."
Sources close to the exes have told the website their divorce proceedings are close to being wrapped up, and they are nearing a final settlement, although it is not known what has caused the delay.
The former couple has maintained an amicable relationship following their split and co-parent their three children Violet, 12, Seraphina, nine, and Samuel, six.
Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine in March 2016, when they were separated, Jennifer, 46, said she wouldn't change anything.
"I didn't marry the big fat movie star; I married him... And I would go back and remake that decision," she said. "You can't have these three babies and so much of what we had. He's the love of my life.
"He's the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He's just a complicated guy. I always say, 'When his sun shines on you, you feel it.' But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it's cold. He can cast quite a shadow."
