Nicole Kidman was “mortified” after her apparent snub of Rami Malek at the Golden Globes.

Malek took to the stage to collect the Best Motion Picture - Drama award for Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody at the star-studded awards ceremony earlier this month (Jan19).

As he approached Kidman, who presented the award, he tried to shake her hand - at which point the actress appeared to snub him.

Days after the cringeworthy moment went viral on social media, the pair reunited on the red carpet at the Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and shared a warm embrace - posing for photos as they chatted to each other.

Kidman later told Entertainment Tonight that she was in a “bit of a daze” at the time of the awkward moment - which left her "mortified".

"We're really good friends," she explained. "I just did not feel his hand on my back. I love that man. He's so gentle and softly spoken. He's a darling.”

She added that they connected soon after the Globes to joke about what happened. "He sent me an email. I sent him an email... we were laughing, actually," Kidman shared.

Malek later explained that he found the online reaction to the now infamous incident "ridiculous", and told Entertainment Tonight that he is good friends with the Oscar-winning Australian.

"She's been a friend for a long time, and that's why the whole thing I find absolutely ridiculous and hilarious," the 37-year-old said. "But I'm having a laugh about it all."

"I got up there, and I was in such a daze I don't even know how I put together a collection of words that sounded coherent," Malek added. “So the fact that I knew Nicole (was there), I was like, 'Oh, here's a bit of safety.' And then she just didn't see me. It was as simple as that."

The star, who is winning awards for his portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in the biopic, said Kidman was "so cool".

"I love Nicole. I admire her and respect her,” he gushed. “She is so down-to-earth and so cool.”

Malek also teased that the pair "may or may not have something planned out already" to poke fun at their Golden Globes mishap.
