Dario Argento, the director of the original Suspiria, is not a fan of the new movie, starring Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, and Chloe Grace Moretz.

The filmmaker insists Luca Guadagnino's 2018 remake "betrayed" his acclaimed 1977 version, which featured Jessica Harper, Stefania Casini, and Flavio Bucci .

"It did not excite me and it betrayed the spirit of the original film," Dario tells Un Giorno de Pecorca. "The film has not satisfied me so much."

But the veteran stopped short of criticising Guadagnino directly, calling him "a fine person" and cooing about his set design, stating Luca made "beautiful tables, beautiful curtains, beautiful dishes..."

Argento, the father of actress Asia Argento, appeared as the uncredited narrator in his version of the film, and he's also credited as a writer on the new version.

He also didn't turn on Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke's revamp of music group Goblin's score for the original horror film.

The rocker recently told The Hollywood Reporter it took him months to "even contemplate the idea" of creating the atmospheric music for Guadagnino's horror movie, calling Goblin’s original score "one of those legendary soundtracks".

"It was one of those moments in your life where you want to run away but you know you’ll regret it if you do," he said.

"I watched the original film several times, and I loved it because it was of that time, an incredibly intense soundtrack. Obviously Goblin and Dario worked incredibly closely when they did it together."
