Liam Hemsworth was hospitalised over the weekend, meaning he had to miss out on accompanying wife Miley Cyrus to the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (10Feb19).

The 29-year-old actor had been expected to walk the red carpet at the star-studded awards ceremony with Miley, but left his spouse to pose with her parents Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus instead.

Liam was also absent from a press day for upcoming movie Isn't It Romantic on Sunday, with co-star Rebel Wilson telling U.S. TV show Extra: "Yes, he texted us this morning - he was in hospital overnight, so hopefully he will be fine."

A representative for Warner Bros. told People that Liam woke up on Sunday and wasn't feeling well, so had to miss the press day. No further details were given about Liam's hospital visit.

He and Miley are scheduled to be walking the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of Isn't It Romantic on Monday night, but it remains to be seen whether or not Liam will be well enough for that appearance.

The Hunger Games star was no doubt watching his other half on the television, however, as she performed a version of Jolene with her godmother Dolly Parton on stage. She also joined Shawn Mendes for a surprise duet of his track In My Blood.

Liam and Miley married at her home in Tennessee on 23 December (18). And in a recent interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Liam admitted he became somewhat emotional when Miley told him she would be adopting the moniker Miley Ray Hemsworth.

"She'll obviously still be known as Miley Cyrus (professionally), but she took my name, which was great," he smiled. "I think that was honestly one of the best things about it (wedding). I didn't ask her to take my name, but then she was like, 'No, of course I'm taking it', and I'm like, 'That's awesome, that's really good, thank you'."
