Actor Ryan Phillippe is seeking to sanction his former girlfriend for requesting legal documents about one of his previous relationships.

Model Elsie Hewitt filed a civil suit against the actor in 2017, claiming he threw her down a flight of stairs twice, while yelling, "Get the f**k out of my house...", when she tried to retrieve her items following their split.

According to The Blast, Hewitt is seeking to subpoena officials at the Los Angeles Police Department to turn over documents about "complaints or police reports" made against Phillippe by his ex-fiancee Paulina Slagter. She is also demanding access to any legal paperwork pertaining to restraining orders she may have taken out against him or "claims of domestic violence".

The actor is firing back, insisting the documents are not relevant to the case, and he is asking for Hewitt's subpoena request to be denied and for her to be sanctioned.

Meanwhile, Philippe himself has been sanctioned in the case after he allegedly refused to hand over documents and photos Hewitt had requested in an attempt to locate any communication the 44 year old had with his Oscar-winning ex-wife Reese Witherspoon about the alleged abuse. In June (18), Hewitt filed a motion to compel and in October (18), the judge overseeing the case ordered Phillippe to turn over any texts with Witherspoon about Hewitt, and sanctioned him $1,580 (£1,230) for the delay.

The following month (Nov18), Hewitt claimed that despite the Cruel Intentions star agreeing to produce all his texts, he insisted he never communicated with the Big Little Lies actress following the alleged assault, and had no relevant texts in his possession.

He was hit with $790 (£620) in sanctions in December (18) for his alleged non-compliance and has also been ordered to hand over all communication he had with any third-party about the incident and turn in any relevant social media posts.

Hewitt previously claimed her ex was abusing steroids, cocaine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms. The model is seeking more than $1 million (£783,200) in damages.

Phillippe has denied the allegations against him, accusing Hewitt of extortion.
