Tori Spelling has added her tribute to Luke Perry a day after her former Beverly Hills, 90210 star died after suffering a stroke.

Castmates Ian Ziering, Jennie Garth, Gabrielle Carteris and Shannen Doherty offered up their fond farewells via social media and official statements hours after the 52 year old lost his life, and now Tori has turned to People magazine to add her thoughts.

"I’m in utter shock and heartbroken," the actress and reality TV star says. "I’m saddened for his kids whom he adored beyond words. He was so proud of Jack, 21, and Sophie, 18.

"Luke was one of the kindest and most humble human beings I’ve ever known. I’m grateful for the years of friendship we had. He truly was family to me, a protector and a brother. I’m so sorry for the loss that everyone is experiencing."

The late star's daughter, Sophie, has also broken her silence on her father's death, revealing she dashed back from Malawi after hearing her dad had suffered a stroke.

"A lot has happened in this past week for me," the 18 year old says in a statement. "Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, and in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support.

"I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I. I'm not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bare with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly."

Meanwhile, production on Perry's teen drama Riverdale remains shut down on for a second day, following the actor's death.

A source tells Entertainment Tonight production will resume on Wednesday and counselling services will be offered to the cast and crew.
