Kevin Hart released from hospital after car crash

Kevin Hart has reportedly been released from hospital following the car crash which left him with major back injuries.

The comedian was hospitalised at the Northridge Hospital Medical Center when his classic 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, in which he was a passenger, veered off the road on Mulholland Highway in Calabasas, California and ended up in a ditch on 1 September.

According to Us Weekly, the Night School star has relocated to a physical rehab facility, where he is likely to spend the next fortnight working up his strength until he can return home.

“Doctors have cautioned that he may need to stay longer,” a source told the publication. “The plan is for him to have a physical therapy aide living at the house when he is discharged.”

The 40-year-old is alleged to have suffered three spinal fractures in the crash, which required him to have surgery to fuse several areas around the spine. Despite the near-death experience, Kevin is said to be in good spirits and has apparently adopted a positive attitude of "I'm lucky to be alive", according to TMZ.

The driver, 28-year-old Jared Black, also suffered back injuries and was hospitalised following the crash, while fellow passenger, 31-year-old personal trainer Rebecca Broxterman, only complained of pain.
