A Friends reunion special at HBO Max is still a "maybe", according to the network's chief content officer Kevin Reilly.

It was reported last November that stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc would all participate in the one-off unscripted show, alongside the show's original creators, David Crane and Marta Kauffman.

However, during a presentation on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Reilly admitted the programme was up in the air.

"There's interest all the way around, and yet we can't seem to quite get that interest all aligned to push the button on it, so today, unfortunately, it's still a maybe," he said.

Last year, show star Jennifer teased the special as she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"Listen, we would love for there to be something but we don't know what that something is. We're working on something," the actress commented.

Her admission came after she almost broke the Internet by sharing a snap of herself with all five of her former co-stars as the first post on her Instagram page.
