Renowned Scottish actor James McAvoy (X-Men, Split, Atonement, The Last Kind of Scotland) is set to be honoured at the Global Gift Gala taking place for the first time in Edinburgh, Scotland next month for his dedicated charitable work.

Taking place at the Waldorf Astoria, The Caledonian Hotel on Wednesday 17th May 2017, the BATFA award-winner will join a host of stars including Eva Longoria Baston for the event which is hosted by Vogue Williams and Nick Ede.

James McAvoy commented: “Coming together to support one another is something we need to focus on right now. No matter how big or small; whether it’s helping that stranger on the street in your local community who has nowhere to call home or that stranger on the TV who is suffering displacement from war. We all have part to play in creating a better tomorrow.”

Maria Bravo, founder and CEO of the Global Gift Platform said: “We are delighted James McAvoy will be accepting this award during the evening. Over the years, we have admired his continued charitable work where he has used his voice to raise awareness for countless charities. He is a true philanthropist and we look forward to being able to honour him at the Global Gift Gala in Edinburgh”.

Dale MacPhee, General Manager of the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian, said: “It is a true honour to be hosting the first Global Gift Gala in Scotland and the first of these fantastic events to be held at a Waldorf Astoria hotel. With its stunning location overlooking Edinburgh castle, our five-star hotel will provide the perfect backdrop for this glamourous event. We are passionate about supporting charities around the world and look forward to helping raise as much as we possibly can for such a worthy cause.”

Charities benefiting from the 2017 Edinburgh Global Gift Gala include the Eva Longoria Foundation, which aims to improve education and provide entrepreneurial opportunities for young women; Place2Be which provides emotional and therapeutic services in primary and secondary schools, building children's resilience through talking, creative work and play; and the Global Gift Foundation with the opening of their first ‘CASA GLOBAL GIFT’, providing medical treatments and therapy for children affected by rare disease.
