A crew from a local TV station news team go to an apparantly haunted school. Haunted after a horrific event that has left many in fear of staying the night. The crew want to prove this is all nonsense and decide to stay overnight in the hope of revealing the unusual activity is nothing more than fears manifested....either that or it is as suggested and the gate way to hell...
I loathe the found footage genre now. It began after the Blair Witch film proved the internet could whip up a culty faster than you could say horror geeks. After Paranormal Activity we found ourselves back in the usual territory but now with a little bit of skill and a little bit of talent. Then came the ever awful rehash or reverting to genre conventions. Yes I got that this is the way to make a film as the big companies or small financers will back a money spinner DVD fodder film. Most were awful, dull, dumb and disposable. This can be said for much of the LEFT film releases and is ideal for their customer and their business model.
Many reviews have dwelled simply on its rehashing of a revisit to a film series before. I am of the mind that the film is a return to something and it is not a very good return. Classroom 6 has something but it is not fresh or interesting enough to break ground or break convention. It has very good production values and the whole team that constructed this, should be given recognition for it. They have invested time, money and talent in this with great skill involved. The rest of the film however fails because it is firstly, paint by numbers and you are bound to see where it is going and secondly the first act is too long, then the second slams on the accelarate. The final act will leave you not caring enough. One other point is that the acting is quite good for a cheapie film. Valentina is delightful and clever in her performance and should be noticed.
