Smiley is a fun a little slasher film for the younger generation not bought up on the likes of Halloween and Friday 13th.

The first ten minutes have echoes of When a Stranger calls and it’s a very good first ten minutes full of suspense and horror that will have people jumping like a hopped up teenager on a sugar rush. So the plot- without spoilers is thus. If a person on a Chat/Roulette-style website types the phrase 'I did it for the lulz' three times, their chat partner will be murdered by a killer called Smiley, so named because he mutilated his own face by stitching his own eyes shut and carved his mouth into a smile.

College student Ashley Caitlin Gerard sees a supposed video of one of the murders online at a party and is shocked but fascinated. Along with her zany roommate Proxy, (Melanie Papalia), they set out to see if its real or not. They soon discover they have bitten off way more than they can chew and soon Ashley finds herself being stalked by Smiley.

The rest of the film doesn’t really live up to this high end beginning but it definitely has enough of a story to sustain it over the next hour and a bit to make it a worthwhile watch.

There is a twist at the end which you may or may not see coming a mile off but you have to watch it till the end to see if you are right or not and by that we are talking until the credits have finished rolling.

Watch it with a group of friends, its fun- it’ll make you jump, scream, and laugh……..do it……for the lulz..
