Mini Biography – Reg Traviss

Reg Traviss is feature film writer and director. His latest feature PSYCHOSIS (2009), a psychological thriller, staring Charisma Carpenter and Justin Hawkins, will be released in July 2010 by Lionsgate. Reg’s debut film, the critically acclaimed World War II and Cold War drama JOY DIVISION (2006), was distributed worldwide and theatrically in most major territories. Prior to film, Reg directed Commercials, mood-films, and Idents for television. As a filmmaker, Reg has worked across Britain and overseas and has directed talent from Hollywood, the United Kingdom and continental Europe.

In 2003, Reg co-founded Kingsway Films Limited – a feature film production company based in central London – with ex Channel Four Producer / Director Alex Harvey. The company has a modest slate of films at various stages of development and pre-production. Since its establishment, Kingsway Films now has several experienced partners and a board of shareholders.

Reg is currently attached to direct a based on truth prison thriller later this year with bestselling author Ronnie Thompson – and he is attached to direct a new Kingsway Films’ production slated for mid-2011.

Below are some press review quotes from the UK release of JOY DIVISION:

“…intelligent and affecting debut from Traviss marks him out as one of the UK’s most promising new film-makers” (Film Review magazine – June 2007)

“Joy Division is one of the greatest war / cold war movies I have seen in a very long time…reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan and Downfall…AN EPIC THRILLER WITH A SOLID STORY” (Blockbuster – June 2007)

“SWEEPING, TUMULTUOUS HISTORICAL EPIC” (New York Times – December 2006)

“Every penny of it’s tiny £4m budget has been well spent with the scenes impressively shot…you have to admire the vision of director Reg Traviss” (Daily Mirror – Nov 2006)

“Reg Traviss’ first feature takes the breath away with it’s sheer ambition…a director to watch!” (The Herald – Nov 2006)

“…give Traviss his due, it’s an ambitious project to attempt on a very little budget, and he succeeds admirably in recreating both the wartime devastation and the atmosphere of swinging sixties London”. (Birmingham Post – Nov 2006)
