Aaron Taylor-Johnson thinks auditions are like "a kind of flirt".

The Godzilla star began acting when he was six years old. Since then he's gone on to star in major Hollywood films including Godzilla and Kick-Ass and will next be seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron as Quicksilver. The 24-year-old is very selective about the roles he takes on, but he remembers a time when he'd audition constantly and recalls there was a certain knack to it.

"I used to love the thrill of it," he told the British edition of Marie Claire. "It's a kind of flirt you have. In three minutes you have to walk into the room, introduce yourself and walk out with them still thinking about you. I was pretty good at one point."

It was possibly helped by the fact that he would arrive to say his lines in the character he wanted to play. So for his role as Dave Lizewski in Kick-Ass, he dressed as a "high-school nerdy American kid and put on that kind of accent". And he was so convincing, director Matthew Vaughn didn't believe him when he told him he was British.

When Aaron isn't working, he enjoys nothing more than being at home with his wife, director Sam Taylor-Wood, and daughters Wylda, four, and Romy, three. The star is more than happy to be surrounded by girls. He also has a female agent and manager and grew up with his mother and sister.

"I've always been better around females," he smiled. "It's funny that life has given me girls, but now I can raise strong women. And they've got such a great role model in their mum. My household's kind of great."
