Amanda Bynes' father "knows nothing" about his daughter's latest arrest.

The actress was taken into police custody in the early hours of Sunday morning and charged with a misdemeanour after they "determined she was under the influence of a controlled substance”, E! News reported. But her parents, Rick and Lynn, was unaware of the incident until they were contacted by the media.

"We know nothing about this, we were called by the press," Rick revealed to X17 Online. "We have not seen her or heard from her since the end of the conservatorship."

The former child star was forcibly hospitalised in July last year after showing increasingly erratic behaviour, including starting a fire in the driveway of a neighbour’s home in Los Angeles. After receiving medical help she spent time in rehab before being released into her parents’ care in December. Her conservatorship is reported to have ended this month, after which it seems things have spiralled out of control.

"Since then she can do what she wants, she's 28," Rick continued. "I don't know anything about the ticket. TMZ called me that's all I know."

He added that he hadn't even known whereabouts in the country his daughter was. Her parents had a number of paparazzi around their home and they were quick to point out that the chances of Amanda returning were slim.

"Because we don't know anything we are fine, but I can guarantee you she will not come here," he said. "I thought she was in New York, the last time she was here was in June."

Following her arrest, Amanda was transported to the West Valley California Highway Patrol (CHP) office for evaluation by a "Drug Recognition Expert".

“The suspicion is drugs. It’ll be a couple of weeks before test results are in,” a CHP source told Access Hollywood before adding the star was "cooperative during the entire process".

TMZ is now reporting that the star was under the influence of Adderall which had apparently been prescribed by her doctor. There is also speculation she has been smoking marijuana and is not taking other medicine she should be. On top of that, the star is facing a possible probation violation following her 2012 arrest for DUI.
