Amanda Bynes will reportedly be kept in hospital for another month.
The 28-year-old actress was placed under a 5150 involuntary hold in Los Angeles earlier this month, used when someone is deemed a danger to themselves or others.
Originally ordered to last 17 days, Amanda would apparently have been able to leave the psychiatric facility yesterday. But according to TMZ, specialists secretly asked a judge to extend her stay by 30 days as she is "very ill" and not fit to leave.
Convinced by the case, the judge is thought to have agreed.
It's not yet clear whether Amanda's parents will go to court to fight for a conservatorship, putting them in charge of their daughter's affairs. They previously held one, but it's thought this time around the actress is angry at her mom and dad for "tricking" her into going to hospital and that trying to control her would be too difficult.
Her hospitalisation follows worrying behaviour, which began after she was arrested for a DUI in California last month. She was also accused of shoplifting and made claims on Twitter that her father had sexually abused her. She later deleted the posts and said nothing she had written was true, but that she had been made to believe the allegations due to a microchip in her brain.
TMZ previously claimed doctors are planning to get a Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) Hold, granted by a judge when a patient is "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism". This would allow health experts to keep Amanda confined at either a hospital or other secure facility for 12 months and administer medication against her will.
Amanda was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold last year after another bout of worrying behaviour, eventually being released into rehab. She enrolled on a course at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Irvine, California, once her treatment was complete and was thought to be doing well up until last month.
