American Sniper is still number one at the weekend box office.

The military biopic directed by Clint Eastwood took in over $64 million at theatres since Friday. The feature has earned over $200 million in gross profits so far. It was made with an estimated budget of $58.8 million, according to Box Office Mojo. Bradley portrays real-life late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in American Sniper, which also stars Sienna Miller.

The movie has already broken box office records. On its Friday January 16 debut, American Sniper took in $30.5 million at theatres, snatching away the weekend opening day top earnings title from Cloverfield, which took in $17.2 million when it was released January 18, 2008. Filmmaker James Cameron’s sci-fi fantasy film Avatar also had a few records surpassed by American Sniper. In 2010, Avatar took in $68.5 million during it’s first weekend at the box office and the picture also took in the most money on a single day in January, with gross profits of $28.5 million.

Jennifer Lopez’s new picture The Boy Next Door came in second earning significantly less, debuting with gross profits of just above $15 million. The Rob Cohen-directed picture, which is distributed by Universal, was made for just $4 million. The Boy Next Door centres on Jennifer’s character, a newly divorced woman who falls for a younger neighbour, played by Ryan Guzman. But the one-night stand goes awry after their fling takes a frightening turn.

In its second weekend at the box office, family film Paddington took third place, earning $12.3 million. Sally Hawkins stars in the picture about the fictional British bear and classic children’s character Paddington is voiced by Ben Whishaw. Hitherto the picture has earned $40 million in domestic gross profits and nearly $170 million worldwide.
