Amy Schumer did not intend to “flip gender roles” in her new movie Trainwreck.
The 34-year-old comedienne portrays a serial dater in director Judd Apatow’s forthcoming feature, which she wrote the screenplay for.
And Amy doesn’t think moving from partner to partner romantically speaking is an action exclusive to men.
"A lot of people have asked me if I intended to kind of flip the gender roles like I'm playing the guy, and that's not been my experience at all," she explained to People magazine.
"This is how I am and how a lot of girls are where the guy ends up being a little more sensitive and more invested. So the scene where I get high and then John [Cena's] character looks through my phone, and then instead of comforting him I ask if I can leave – that did happen in my real life."
Amy is known for sharing whatever is on her mind at any given time.
She believes candor is very important.
"It's very therapeutic for me to be like, 'Yes, I'm not going to look like a malnourished bird,' and I like speaking to that, as well as speaking to my work and what I'm doing," the star said of why she appreciates authenticity.
Amy often speaks out about the pressure women feel in Hollywood to look good.
The funnywoman previously revealed she worries about how certain thoughts might impact the younger generation.
“I'm not the skinniest or prettiest girl. But who cares?” she mused to Britain's Glamour magazine. “I feel sexy and beautiful. I'm single, but never struggle for suitors. I don't mean to sound cocky, but I like myself, I'm proud of myself and people respond to that. The surgery and starving that comes with Hollywood is sick. I don't want anything bad enough not to eat."
