Andy Samberg couldn’t believe Kit Harington wanted to be in his new tennis movie 7 Days in Hell.

The I Love You, Man actor stars alongside the Game of Thrones star in the HBO film. The 36-year-old is a huge fan of the hit series and admitted his shock at the British star wanting to work with him.

“So we [Andy and writer Murray Miller] were like, we need someone relatively fit within this age bracket, so we Googled ‘British actors and age bracket’ and a bunch of really cool dudes came up, but we saw Kit and I was like, 'Holy c**p, could we get Jon Snow [Kit’s Game of Thrones character] to be in this' That would be incredible!'” he explained to Jimmy Kimmel. “Cos I’m a huge Thrones head, so we basically called him up and sent him the script and I went to have a meeting with him and I was like, ‘I’m gonna pitch this thing to Jon Snow and see what he thinks,’ and I sat down and was like, ‘Hey, I’m Andy,’ and he’s like, ‘Hey, I’m Kit, I love the script, I want to do it!’”

The film has been a labour of love for Andy and Murray, who have been friends for years. It was actually inspired by how close the pair are - that and a hilarious event they witnessed.

“We’d always liked tennis and wanted to write comedy and we were like, it would be funny to do a tennis comedy,” he said. “Then a bunch of years ago, there was that tennis match at Wimbledon that lasted three full days and we were laughing about it like, ‘This is comedic, it just won’t end,’ and we were like, ‘You know, it would be funny if someone wrote something where a match just never ended.' And then I was like, ‘That should be us! We should write that!’”

The film features cameos from some big names in the sport including Serena Williams and John McEnroe, who one of the characters in the movie is based on.

“I’m sort of like an [Andre] Agassi bad boy of tennis mixed with [John] McEnroe, mixed with [Bjorn] Borg American. Kit’s character is like a British Andy Murray, the weight of Britain on his shoulders kind of a Brit guy,” he laughed.
