Ansel Elgort: I like girls!

Ansel Elgort isn't gay, but he wouldn't be ashamed if he were.

The 20-year-old is one of Hollywood's hottest new talents, with films such as The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent under his belt.

He made his movie debut in 2013 and with his newly established celebrity status Ansel has found his love life has become the subject of tabloid tales. However he has taken to Twitter to clear up any uncertainties surrounding his sexuality.

"Just in case it isn't clear... I like girls. A lot.

"Also let me say if I was gay I wouldn't hide it. Being gay or straight isn't bad or good it just IS. U are who you are. Be true to yourself (sic)," he posted.

Ansel split up with long-term girlfriend Violetta Komyshan in August. They had been high school sweethearts but apparently found it hard to continue their relationship with Ansel's hectic movie schedule.

He recently spoke about how fame has changed his life, noting that girls were now more interested in him. However he admits female attention doesn't faze him, and he's more concerned with making great films.

"What's changed is: 'Oh, you can go to this restaurant,' or 'You can go to this nightclub,' but I'm not really interested in that. I don't really care that some trashy girl, like, now all of the sudden wants to f**k me. That's not really that interesting to me," he explained to US GQ magazine. "What's interesting to me is the fact that creatively I can do anything now and people will pay attention, and if I suck, hopefully they will stop paying attention very quickly, but if I'm good, then I have my foot in the door, and people have paid attention, and I did a good job, and people are like, 'Oh, wow!' That's sweet!"
