Armie Hammer: Female co-stars pulled my strings

Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill were "run like puppets" by the women in their latest film.

The two actors star as enemy spies who join forces to defeat a mutual threat in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Also appearing in the flick are screen sirens Alicia Vikander and Elizabeth Debicki, whose alter egos had a way with the men.

"These girls push us about like chess pieces the entire time," Henry grinned to glamourmagazine.co.uk.

"And we're supposed to be the best two spies in the world! And they just run us like puppets," Armie chimed in.

Henry plays slick spy Napoleon Solo, whose charming nature is bound to win female cinemagoers over. He initially struggled with nailing the US accent but had the help of director Guy Ritchie to point out when his pronunciation was off.

Armie's Illya Kuryakin is less laidback than Solo and often gets worked up, which the American star can relate to.

"I wish I was as smooth as Solo, but I don't think I have it in me which is why I probably lash out," he laughed.

The female stars were also interviewed by the website, with the journalist quizzing them on how good a spy they'd make in real life. Although Alicia's career relies on her putting on a convincing performance, she's actually a bad liar.

Elizabeth has one quality which would make her a suitable agent, but isn't sure she'd withstand pressure.

"I'm good at keeping secrets but I wouldn't trust myself. I get flustered with a Rubik's Cube so for saving the world, I'm out of it," she sighed.
