Alec Baldwin’s wife has warned him to learn Spanish for their unborn daughter or risk them talking behind his back.

The 54-year-old star married yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas in June. The couple recently announced they are expecting their first child, a baby girl.

Hilaria is insistent their daughter learn about her Hispanic heritage.

“We're having a girl and we definitely want her to speak Spanish," She told Us Weekly magazine.

The mother-to-be said one idea is to have a “no English” rule in the home.

But that could pose a problem for Alec, who is far from fluent in her native tongue. She’s warned him if he doesn’t learn she’ll be speaking Spanish with their daughter whether or not he understands.

"It's a little tricky because my husband doesn't speak Spanish, so that'll be a little tricky in the house," Hilaria confessed.

"But maybe we will have our own conversation and he'll have to learn. We can talk behind his back. I cannot wait!"

Hilaria admitted Alec may be feeling a little overwhelmed by the amount of estrogen in the home.

The actor is also father to a 17-year-old daughter, Ireland, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.

The couple also share two female dogs.

“I turned to Alec yesterday when the ultrasound was done and was like, 'I get to buy pink things now!'" Hilaria gushed. "We have two girl dogs and me and now we have the baby girl, so he's just going to be surrounded by girls,” she mused.

Alec recently said he was looking forward to being a father to another bundle of joy.

The actor previously said he would love to be a stay-at-home dad now that his comedy sitcom 30 Rock ended after seven seasons on the air.

“My dream is to be home with the baby,” he said.

“Standing in the doorway, saying goodbye to mommy. Mommy is going to work now. Bye mommy, see ya when you come back!”
