Ben Stiller’s mother Anne Meara has died at the age of 85.
The actress enjoyed an illustrious career in show business, having entered the entertainment industry in 1954.
The Stiller family confirmed to the Associated Press Anne had passed away on Saturday May 23, but provided no further details on her death.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Stiller, son Ben, daughter Amy and several grandchildren.
"Anne's memory lives on in the hearts of daughter Amy, son Ben, her grandchildren, her extended family and friends, and the millions she entertained as an actress, writer and comedienne,” a statement released by the Stiller clan reads.
Anne was married to fellow comedian Jerry since 1954. The couple starred together as Stiller and Meara on The Ed Sullivan Show five decades ago. Also during the Sixties, the duo took home several awards for the TV and radio commercials they recorded together.
“[Jerry was Anne’s] husband and partner in life,” the family press release reads. "The two were married for 61 years and worked together almost as long.”
Anne’s independent career initiatives are equally as impressive as the work she did with Jerry.
She has earned four Emmy Award nominations for her roles in television series such as Archie Bunker’s Place and Homicide. Anne also took home a Writer’s Guild Award for writing 1983 TV movie The Other Woman.
For the past two months, her son Ben has been in Rome, Italy shooting scenes for his forthcoming comedy sequel Zoolander 2. Anne’s funeral details have not yet been released.
