British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is planning to expand his family with his wife Sophie Hunter because he is so thrilled with life as a new father.
The Sherlock star married the theatre director in February (15) and she delivered their first child, a son named Christopher Carlton, in June (15), but the actor has remained mainly tight-lipped over the new arrival.
However, he has now revealed the couple is planning on having more children as he loved caring for his wife and young son after the birth. Benedict also admits parenting duties took his mind off his stage role as Hamlet at London's Barbican Theatre, in a production that ended last month (Oct15).
"I've become a father and a husband, and in the right order - just! I might go for a Cumber-batch of boys!..." he tells UK talk show host Graham Norton. "I'm always in a rush to get back (home). It's everything.
"I have a new life form that needs his father's help in the world and his mother needs a little help once in a while. It's what being a parent is about so it's not an excuse to get away from what I am doing, it's what I ought to be doing and after three-and-a-half hours of Hamlet I think that's okay."
The name of the actor's son is thought to hold personal significance for Benedict - he played a character called Christopher in the 2012 BBC adaptation of First World War drama Parade's End, and Carlton is the family name he shares with his father.
This year (15) has been full of important changes for Benedict - not only did he become a first-time father and marry his partner, but he was also made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II.
The actor also scored well professionally as he competed for an Oscar at the 2015 Academy Awards for his role in The Imitation Game, and his latest film project, crime drama Black Mass, is hotly-tipped to be a major contender during the upcoming Hollywood awards season.
