Blake Lively says NY made her trendy

Blake Lively says she has a better wardrobe since living in New York.

The 23-year-old American actress has become an international star thanks to her role in the hit US teen drama Gossip Girl.

Blake enjoys the perks of starring in the popular TV show, which follows the lives of a group of stylish youngsters living in New York. The star says her wardrobe is far more impressive since appearing on the glamorous series.

"None of it is mine. It's nice to play dress-up, it's like being a little girl and putting on make-up and outfits. I grew up in Burbank [California] and I love living in New York City so much [because of the shopping] and I now have a way better wardrobe,” she said in an interview with British newspaper The Independent.

The beauty plays Serena van der Woodsen in the popular show, and is often compared to her charismatic character. Blake says although she wears the same kind of clothes and lives in the same city, she is rather unlike her fictional character Serena.

"I wear pretty clothes and live in New York so people think I'm very similar to her; they see her talk and interact in their homes once a week and they probably assume that is who I am, but it's not me,” she explained.
