Emily Blunt thinks ‘fancasting’ is absolutely wonderful.

The 31-year-old Looper actress has been an Internet favourite of late, as online fans are predicting she’ll be up for the starring role in newly announced superhero picture, Captain Marvel.

Emily was unaware her name was thrown into this conversation and she finds the ‘fancasting’ phenomenon, which sees actors cast in roles after audiences create a buzz about the possibility, absolutely invigorating.

“Someone told me [about the Captain Marvel talk] this morning, my brother, actually. They call it fan casting' Which is lovely. It’s my favourite kind of casting! I wish it was always like that,” she gushed in an interview with ScreenCrush.

Captain Marvel, which is due out in 2018, will be the first Marvel film ever made featuring a female superhero.

And Emily would be honoured to take on that role.

“I think, it’s always for me, it’s always about—and now, more so—what am I putting out there' What would be interesting for me and what would be interesting for people to see. So, if it’s an awesome part, it doesn’t matter if it’s a Marvel movie or a tiny movie, I’d be up for it,” she explained, before noting no talks have commenced about her starring in the movie.

“No one has actually called me about it, so, we’ll hold our breath. I don’t know if I’ll get the call ever if I pitch it should be a musical,” Emily laughed.

The Edge of Tomorrow actress will next be seen in family fantasy Into the Woods, which will reach theatres this Christmas.
