Brad Pitt claims his “road rash” bruise was caused by a clumsy tumble up the stairs.
The 51-year-old Fight Club actor attended the third annual Light Up the Blues Concert in Los Angeles Saturday night and his appearance caused an uproar.
Brad sported a big gash under his eye at the event and the star claims that nasty looking bruise showed up after injuring himself in an extremely awkward manner.
“This is what happens when you try to run up steps in the dark, with your arms full, wearing flip flops,” Brad told Just Jared in a press release issued by his spokesperson. “Turns out if you then try to stop your forward momentum with your face, the result is road rash.”
Despite the embarrassing swelling, Brad was determined not to miss the charity occasion, which was emceed by Jack Black.
Light Up the Blues Concert proceeds helps those suffering with autism.
“Regardless, I wasn’t going to miss the Autism Speaks benefit the night after – wonderful people and I was honoured to be a part of this important event,” Brad said of why he decided to show up Saturday.
The superstar ended up having a fabulous time at the Light Up the Blues Concert. Brad bid on a Fendi guitar signed by the night’s performers, Spencer Harte, Petra Haden, Nick Guzman and Matt Savage, who all have autism. Brad ended up winning the musical instrument after his $23,000 bid went unanswered. The Light Up the Blues Concert took place at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood and other celebrity guests on the night included Christina Applegate, Gary Cole and Amy Brenneman.
