Brad Pitt feels like “the richest man alive” since becoming a father.
The 50-year-old actor and his wife Angelina Jolie raise six children together, Maddox, 13, Pax, ten, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, and six-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Brad has gone on record many times discussing how parenthood has changed him, now saying it has given him more than he ever thought possible.
“You learn to value the basic beauty of family, of watching your children grow and evolve. It's the most beautiful thing you can experience. I feel like the richest man alive since I've become a father,” he told Psychologies magazine.
“Being a father has changed me on so many levels and made me more generous and alive.”
The Hollywood couple have spoken of how important they think it is to teach their children about the world. They often bring the youngsters away with them when they are shooting, most recently showing them the delights of Malta as they film their collaboration By the Sea.
“I see my children as an essential part of my life, and it means so much to be able to educate them and help them make their way in the world as they grow up,” he explained. "I love being a father and all the responsibilities that entails.”
Brad is promoting his World War II movie Fury at the moment and recently said films have to be something special to get him interested these days. That’s because he doesn’t want to miss a minute of his kids’ childhoods as they go past so quickly.
Although he enjoys seeing his offspring making their way in the world, Brad admits feeling nervous as the years roll by.
“I worry about them all the time. That's the emotional bond and responsibility that sweeps over you when you have a family to look after,” he explained.
“I care about them more than I care about myself, which I think is the real definition of love. You see past yourself and become more generous and giving, and wanting only the best for your family.”
