Brand: Celibacy’s going out the window!

Russell Brand doesn’t know how “anyone can be celibate” while in Australia.

The British comedian will soon be Down Under to tour his latest comedy show. And during a chat with the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday, the 39-year-old joked about his reported celibate status.

“How can anyone be celibate and not drink and not smoke and be political in Australia?” he asked over the phone. “I think as soon as I land, all those things are going to be out the window.”

Radio host Jackie then asked the star if he had anyone travelling with him to keep him in line. Russell’s reply came at the expense of ex-wife Katy Perry, who he was married to from 2010 to 2012.

“Yeah, I've had one of those, it's like a wife. Ruins everything,” he laughed. “What I've done is I've gone and found myself a heavy book. Not to read, I just slam it shut on my p**** a couple of times a day.”

While Russell made reference to his marriage during the interview, his former spouse has also opened up about their failed union in the last few days.

“[He] hasn't spoken to me since he texted me saying he was filing for divorce. I don't want to talk about him – my songs will say what I need to say," she told Sydney’s Daily Telegraph.

However the Dark Horse singer hasn’t been left too burnt by their split and added that she would be open to love again.

“I'm excited by whatever it brings. I'm excited by my own evolution," she confessed. "I don't want to end up bittersweet."
