Mike Leigh and Ken Loach's films have been selected for the Cannes Film Festival.
Timothy Spall stars in Mike's Mr. Turner, which will be in competition at the prestigious annual event. The movie takes a look at the life of British artist J.M.W Turner.
Ken's Jimmy's Hall is a film about political activist Jimmy Gralton and Barry Ward and Andrew Scott star.
Others battling Mike and Ken for the prestigious Palme d'Or award include Tommy Lee Jones with western drama The Homesman and Bennett Miller with drama Foxcatcher.
Jean-Luc Godard is also in the running with drama Adieu au langage, which is being made in 3D.
The festival, which takes place from May 14 - 25 will open with a screening of Olivier Dahan's Grace of Monaco, which has Nicole Kidman in the lead role of Grace Kelly. It focuses on the Hollywood star's crisis of marriage and identity.
The Un Certain Regard category will be opened by Party Girl, which is directed by Marie Amachoukeli-Barsacq, Claire Burger and Samuel Theis.
Ryan Gosling's directorial debut, which was previously called How to Catch a Monster and has now been changed to Lost River, will also screen in this section. It features Mad Men's Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes and Saoirse Ronan and focuses on a single mother and her teenage son.
Dean DeBlois' animated film How to Train Your Dragon 2 will be showing out of competition at the festival.
